Laser Engraving System ELS-03, ELS-04
Three-Dimensional Imagery In Transperent Materials

The Laser Engraving Systems (ELS) are designed for reproduction of three-dimensional objects or two-dimentional images prepared in Autodesk® 3ds Max®, Autodesk® AutoCAD®, Adobe® Photoshop®, Corel® PHOTO-PAINT®. The ELS create visible point defects in bulk transparent materials, such as optical glasses, crystals, polymers.

The system components:

·        Q-switched Nd: YAG laser.

·        Cabinet with 3D positioning system.

·        Sculptor control software with Personal computer (optionally).

Advantages

  • Our unique optical design creates individual spherical dots of fine quality in transparent media. Because of this design the resulting 3D object will have high image quality when viewed from any direction.
  • Resolution of 2D images reproduced in glass sample can be upon 450 dpi.
  • Smart control of X-Y-Z positioning system provides high speed, high accuracy, low noise, low vibration operation.
  • Windows-based software Sculptor provides the ability to control the engraving process in real time with 3D viewing. Sculptor allows the operator to make final image adjustments: relocation, rotation, uniform and non-uniform scaling.
    Programs for image preparation: CorelDRAW®, Corel PHOTO-PAINT, or Adobe Photoshop for 2D images, and 3ds max for 3D images.
    For 2D images Sculptor can operate with standard 1-bit Black&White BMP format.

To prepare 3D images MAXScript (script is supplied with machine) converts 3ds Max figures to the dot arrays and exports them to the Sculptor environment. All other 3D formats are first exported to the 3ds max environment prior to the conversation with MAXScript..

Operation of ELS required following conditions:

·        power: 220 V, 50–60 Hz, 16 A;

·        ambient temperature: 15–25 °C, 59–78 F, 293±5 K;

·        relative humidity at 295 K: 40–80 %;

·        atmosphere pressure: 0.83–1.03 atm, 84–104 kPa.

Software

Our software allows the setup of all necessary parameters for highfidelity reproduction.

1. Sets the locations of a sample and scales the image up to the appropriate size for the refractive index of medium.

2. Sorts image points for minimization of the processing time.

3. Converts the files, created in various programs, into a compatible format.

4. Memorizes the point of the forced or emergency stop for the object in the non-volatile memory.

5. The process of image creation is displayed on PC monitor.

Model ELS-04 has expanded capabilities from an updated mechanical moving system based on air cushioned linear stepper motor. This model requires external air supply 5-6 bar.
